Hosai (法載)
Housai (years of birth and death unknown) was a priest of Tang (ancient China) in the Nara period.

Career
Knowing that Ganjin (Jianzhen) was going to Japan, he volunteered for being an attendant, took the ship of OTOMO no Komaro in 753 and came to Japan. In "Todaiwajo Toseiden" (Eastern Expedition of the Great T'ang Monk), there is a person called Hozo, and he is considered to be the same person as Hosai.
