Kirimodoshi (切り戻し)

Kirimodoshi is one of the treatments for prolonging the lives of the cut flowers used in Japanese flower arrangement or in fresh flower business.

Kirimodoshi as a Mizuage (method of prolonging the lives of flowers) technique

One of the Mizuage methods

It is to cut at an angle 1 to 2 cm away from the root of the stem. Cutting at an angle makes the area of the cut end wider to absorb more water, but suffers from the disadvantages of having air bubbles easily inside the stem.
